Dr. Shiv Sharma
Optometrist and Clinical Director
Dr. Sharma’s interests include pediatrics, ocular disease, dry eye disease, and primary care. He is very experienced in IPL and Radiofrequency treatment for dry eye with many successfully treated cases. He is passionate about providing cutting-edge eye care to his patients and is a strong proponent of educating patients about their vision and eye health so that they can be better informed and play a more active role in their care.
Dr. Sharma graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University with particular interest in genetics and protein structures.
He went on to obtain a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) and completed clinical rotations through the Eye Center at SCO, the John- Kenyon American Eye Institute, and Novamed Eye Surgery Center. These rotations through Cataract, Retina, and LASIK centers gave him the opportunity to provide care for pre-operative and post-operative patients and with treating various forms of ocular disease.
Dr. Sharma has also served as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors for BCDO – BC Doctors of Optometry and actively advocates for Optometrists and the Profession of Optometry throughout the province.
Dr. Sharma routinely conducts speaking engagements and serves as a professional consultant for a variety of eye care industry partners on topics such as dry eye disease, pharmaceuticals, and contact lenses.
Dr. Andy Deol
Optometrist
Originating from Surrey, British Columbia, Dr. Deol's journey into optometry began at age 6 with his first pair of glasses, igniting a lifelong passion for helping others. He seamlessly merged this calling with his pursuit of medicine, earning a Bachelor's in Science from the University of British Columbia and a transformative Doctorate Degree from Pacific University, followed by Honors in Optometry. Returning to his hometown, he was driven to give back to his community.
Dr. Deol refined his skills through notable clinical rotations, particularly at the Omni Ocular Disease Centre in Atlanta and the Spivack Vision Center in Denver. He adeptly manages complex eye conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eyes, cataracts, and laser eye surgery.
Dr. Deol's inclusive passion encompasses patients of all ages, guided by a personal understanding of pediatric eye care, having been blessed with two children of his own. Since 2009, the Lower Mainland has benefited from his expertise, from his diverse roles in Vancouver-area practices to founding a dedicated Family Eye Care private practice.
Beyond clinical excellence, Dr. Deol aims to raise public awareness about key aspects of eye health, extending his impact to inspire young adults. His curiosity delves into the interplay between psychology, biology, and the intricate relationship between the brain, eyes, and their symbiotic function.
With a deep personal connection to eye conditions like glaucoma, macular disease, and cataracts in his family, Dr. Deol approaches patient care empathetically. He values human interactions, forming bonds with patients, and loves witnessing children's growth over time, even as he raises his own two children.
Dr. Deol's vibrant life extends outside his profession, encompassing his love for fine wines, travel, golf, hiking, skiing, tennis, and a new passion for hunting. His fusion of professionalism and personal connection, curiosity and compassion, expertise and relatability, creates a tapestry that enriches lives and his own journey.
Dr. Kavdeep Kang
Optometrist
Dr. Kavdeep Kang, from Surrey, BC, earned her Bachelor of Science at the University of British Columbia, then pursued Optometry at Aston University, England, graduating with First Class Honours. Post graduation, she practiced in England, furthered her training at the University of Waterloo, and became board certified in Canada.
With practice in two countries, Dr. Kang brings 12 years of extensive clinical experience, spanning from managing various ocular diseases at the Royal Derby Hospital, England, to working within a bustling ophthalmology clinic and providing primary eye care here in the lower mainland.
Passionate about delivering excellent eye care and education, Dr. Kang is fluent in English and Punjabi, and is a dedicated member of the British Columbia and Canadian Associations of Optometrists.
Dr. Rajan Sidhu
Optometrist
Dr. Sidhu was raised in North Delta, British Columbia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University in Biology, graduating First Class with Distinction. He went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon, graduating with Distinction.
Dr. Sidhu is passionate about improving health and wellness in his community and has vast clinical experience at various medical centers in both Canada and the United States concentrating in pediatrics, ocular disease, and family eyecare.
Dr. Sidhu has a particular interest in ocular disease treatment and management including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Gurleen Klair
Optometrist
Dr. Gurleen Klair earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. Originally from British Columbia, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Biology.
Her clinical training in New York City exposed her to a diverse patient population and a broad range of ocular diseases, pediatric eye care, and specialty contact lens fittings. She completed an ocular disease residency with training in retinal disease, glaucoma, and anterior segment disease. She gained unique experience in the Inherited Retinal Disease Clinic, performing electroretinography and genetic testing to support the diagnosis of rare inherited retinal conditions. Dr. Klair is experienced in advanced dry eye treatments, including Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy and LipiFlow. She also continues research at the University Eye Center in Manhattan, focusing on advanced glaucoma.
She is passionate about delivering compassionate, thorough, and patient-centered eye care, and looks forward to helping patients achieve their best possible vision. Dr. Klair is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, and has basic proficiency in Spanish.
Dr. Sharon T. Wong
Optometrist
Dr. Sharon T. Wong graduated from University of Montreal Optometry School in 2004. Originally from Montreal, she moved to Vancouver and loves the beautiful BC mountains and West Coast lifestyle. Dr. Wong is passionate about providing the best eye care for her patients. Dr Wong’s areas of expertise include ocular pathology, ocular nutrition, dry eye treatment, low vision, and myopia control. Dr. Wong has worked in academic eye research (PhD and Pearson medal from University of Waterloo), published scientific articles, presented at international conferences, and taught at Montreal, Waterloo, and Queen’s universities.
She worked in low vision rehabilitation in Quebec (Nazareth and Louis Braille Institute) and subsequently at an ophthalmology clinic in British Columbia where she directed an Optometric Residency Program in affiliation with Pacific University College of Optometry. She was a professional medical illustrator for several years, and she is fluent in English and French. In her free time, she enjoys camping and spending time with family. Dr. Sharon Wong welcomes patients of all ages at Optiview Eye Clinic.
